Bodegas Barco de Piedra has one goal in mind when producing their Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero wine region. To simple showcase the beauty and purity of the Tempranillo grape from this famed region. Most Tempranillo’s from this region are produced with excessive “make up”; too much new oak or manipulation during the winemaking process that obscures the true identity of the grape. Barco de Piedra is produced from sustainably farmed, high elevation, estate vines planted in 2000 in clay and limestone soils. The wine is fermented in stainless steel vats and aged for only 4 months in used French oak.
Violets and spice accent dark berry and cherry aromas on the aromatic nose. Broad and fleshy, offering sweet blackberry and cherry flavors and hints of smoke on the palate. The wine shows very good heft and power on the tannic finish.
