Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte is a 14th century estate that was originally Chateau Lafitte until  purchased by George Smith in 1720. The estate is ranked among the Crus Classes for red wine in the Bordeaux Classification of Graves wine 1953. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, dense and beautifully ripe, this is a rounded rich, wine. Big black-cherry and bitter-chocolate on the nose leads to a rich, concentrated palate with dry tannins and a slightly earthy finish.
