Opening aromatics on the 2020 Machete are gorgeous: ripe plum, leather, lilacs, and espresso bean. On the palate, layers upon layers reveal themselves, from plum jam, dark chocolate, to sweet oak. Puckering tannins to finish, the wine closes with a touch of blood orange zest and lingering acidity.
