Principe de Los Apostoles was crafted by Tato Giovannoni (Bar World 100, The Industries Most Influential Figures 2019), Argentina’s leading mixologist, at his bar Floreria Atlantico in Buenos Aires. The concept was to create a Gin representative of South America and would mix well with tropical ingredients. The search for Botanicals led to the Province of Misiones where Yerba Mate is organically farmed by the Gurani tribe, and there he found pink grapefruit, eucalyptus, juniper and peppermint to round out the mix.

This unusual and appealing gin is made with yerba mate tea (“the most Argentinean drink of all,” the producer says) and dials back traditional juniper in favor of sprightly eucalyptus and peppermint. It’s a warmer expression of gin, with a supersweet, cocoa-like aroma and flavor and velvety feel on the palate.
